Progressive Cavity Pump

Working Principle

A screw pump operates on the progressive cavity principle, where a precision-machined helical rotor rotates inside a specially designed elastomer stator. As the rotor turns, a series of continuously sealed cavities are formed between the rotor and stator. These cavities gently move the fluid from the suction port to the discharge end without interruption.

Since the liquid travels through enclosed cavities instead of being accelerated by centrifugal force, the pump delivers a steady, non-pulsating flow irrespective of pressure variations. This unique pumping mechanism makes screw pumps particularly effective for transferring viscous products, abrasive slurries, shear-sensitive fluids, and media containing suspended solids while maintaining product integrity throughout the pumping cycle.
